How Many Calories Do You Burn Jumping on a Trampoline?

!±8± How Many Calories Do You Burn Jumping on a Trampoline?

Like most exercises, the amount of energy you burn trampolining is dependent on a number of variables such as your weight, the degree of intensity of the exercise, the length of time you exercise and the frequency i.e. daily, weekly etc.

There are two different types of trampoline. The first is the large type that you find in a specialist centre. You will need coaching for this type of activity the same as you would need for any competitive sport, and the activity could certainly develop into something more than a simple augmentation to your weight loss program.

The other type of equipment is the rebound trampoline, a small - usually circular - trampoline which is sited only a few inches off the ground.

This type of trampoline is excellent for weight loss, it's use places no stress on your joints, and so there is little chance of injury, it improves circulation and increases the capacity of your heart and lungs.

It also increases your all round strength, stamina and general fitness, and builds up your muscles in the lower body areas of legs, thighs, waist , arms and hips.

Another great aspect of the rebound trampoline is that its use requires no special instruction or training, just set it up and get going! Because of the variables listed above it is difficult to say how many calories trampolining burns, so we can only generalize and say that 30 minutes will burn off somewhere between 100 - 300 calories.

It is a well-known fact that trampolining is a favourite exercise of NASA's and it is used extensively when training astronauts. their extensive research shows that trampolining is actually more effective than running in terms of fitness and weight loss, so it's definitely one to consider!

As ever, it's not really the type of exercise you do, it's the frequency that counts. If you can change your lifestyle so that you are doing 30 minutes' exercise at least five a days a week you will be well on the road to fitness, health - and weight loss!

Due to the small size of a rebound trampoline, it is equally as effective indoors as it is outdoors. Take it outside in the yard and enjoy some sunshine while you exercise, or if the weather is bad, take it inside and watch the latest episode of your favourite soap as you bounce your way to fitness.

If you want a toned body, a slim shape and improved fitness, get bouncing!

The Benefits Of Using A Rebounder

!±8± The Benefits Of Using A Rebounder

A rebounder is simply a term used for a mini trampoline. The popularity of using this type of device has grown significantly because of all the health benefits associated with using one. People of all ages and health conditions are able to use this apparatus to improve health and fitness.

Rebounders are readily available at sporting good stores, fitness specialty stores, and can be found multiple places online. Choose a model that is sturdy enough with six legs. Models with only four legs can tend to tip over and be dangerous. Choose one where the legs can be unscrewed for easy storage under the bed or in a closet. They are also very affordable, many costing less than a month's membership to a fitness center.

Rebounding can be done by people of all ages and physical abilities because of the low impact on joints. The springs in the system help cushion blows, reducing risks associated with traditional aerobic exercise. Exercises can be as varied as your imagination, but the important thing is to bounce for a period of time to get your heart rate up. There are also numerous videos available to give more regimented workouts by following an instructor.

Using a rebounder stimulates the metabolism, circulates oxygen, and strengthens the heart. It increases the capacity of the lungs and improves muscle tone. It also helps enhance the immune system, aiding in the prevention of illness. This is a great tool to help combat obesity by providing valuable, low impact exercise. Exercise has been shown to reduce tension brought on by everyday stress and pressures. Rebounding enhances this element by being particularly fun. From children to seniors, this type of exercise is greatly enjoyable.

Rebounding can help reduce risk of cardiovascular disease. It can also improve coordination and balance. If you have incontinence problems, rebounding can actually help with this by exercising and strengthening the cells. You can see improved bladder control in a relatively short period of time. It is also an ideal exercise routine for anyone who is recovering from illness or physical ailments such as broken bones or strained muscles. Since bouncing does not work against gravity, there is no undue strain on already damaged muscles and joints. You can help strengthen them without causing more harm.

Rebounding has become widely popular as a form of exercise. There are numerous medical benefits to this type of aerobic exercise as well as the psychological benefits from reducing stress. Because of the low impact, this type of exercise can be performed by people of all ages, weights and physical conditions. This is also one of the most fun forms of exercise. Who doesn't like to bounce?

HIIT Versus Steady State Cardio Workouts: The Face-Off

!±8± HIIT Versus Steady State Cardio Workouts: The Face-Off

If you're reading up on all the various resources available on cardio training, you've likely come to the conclusion that high intensity interval training, sometimes referred to as HIIT, is the top form of cardio to complete.

It burns calories faster, helps you continue to keep burning calories all day long, and it gets you in great physical condition.

It would seem that there's no argument, given the choice between high intensity interval training and more moderate forms of cardio training, the high intensity sessions win hands down.

But, is this always the case?

Before you run to the gym to perform some intervals, there are some key factors that you should be considering. Let's take a look at what these are so you can be sure to make the right choice for you.

Your Overall Workout Program

The very first thing that you need to look at when assessing whether HIIT is right for you is what the rest of your workout program looks like. How many days of the week are you planning on doing weight lifting?

If you're in the gym doing your weight lifting for four days a week, adding another three or four days of interval training to this is very likely going to be overkill and you'll wind up injured and burnt out.

Remember, the body can only take so much physical intense exercise and there will come a time where it'll just give out.

If you're doing two or three weight training workouts a week, this leaves more time open for the intervals and for recovery purposes.

The Intensity Of Your Diet

Next, you also should consider the intensity of your diet as well. How high is your calorie intake? If you're just using a moderate calorie deficit to lose fat, you'll have more energy available to complete those hard workout sessions.

If you're using a very low calorie diet though, then it's going to be pretty trying doing these on a regular basis. You need fuel to exercise and if that fuel isn't coming in, your body is going to struggle along.

Your Carbohydrate Intake

In addition to considering calories, you also must take a close look at your carbohydrates specifically.

The reason for this is that to perform this high intensity cardio training, your body absolutely must have glucose present in its system. If it doesn't, you won't be able to do it - period.

This is simply because glucose is the only form of fuel that the body can run off of to perform this intensity of exercise so when it's not coming in through the diet, your exercise capacity is severely limited.

If you are eating carbohydrates, then you can keep up with the HIIT sessions. If you're low carb dieting, moderate intensity cardio will be a wiser choice.

Your Recovery Ability

Finally, last but not least make sure to consider your recovery ability. Each person has their own individual recovery ability and if you know that yours is poor, adding too many interval training sessions may not be a wise decision.

If you recover fine though, then two or three per week shouldn't pose too much of a problem. Just make sure you look at your own situation and not compare with what other people are doing.

So there you have a few important facts to remember about high intensity interval training. If you can keep these in mind then you should have no problem making the decision of what type of training is going to be best for you.

Soft Bounce Rebounders Vs Other Rebound Exercise Trampolines: Which Is The Best?

!±8± Soft Bounce Rebounders Vs Other Rebound Exercise Trampolines: Which Is The Best?

Not all rebounders are created equal. Rebound exercisers vary in construction and tightness of bounce. Are soft bounce, bungee-cord based rebounders or rebound exercise trampolines that are spring-based preferable? Here's a comparison of the two different types and various brands:

What do you want to look for in a rebounder? Just price?

I speak from experience when I say that price alone is a lousy criteria for choosing a rebounder. I talk more about that at the link in the resource box below, but for now, let's leave price aside for a second and look at other aspects of this type exerciser.

When you're looking at these mini trampolines, you want to look for three important things:

1. An even bounce. Some of these trampolines don't have even tension, and they can be unsafe and can even create misalignment of the spine.

2. A gentle, soft bounce. Tight bounces are not good for anyone with even a hint of back or joint problems. The older you are, the more important it is that you prioritize this feature.

3. Quality construction. Since you're bouncing on these things, you need them to be sturdy and safe and made from non-toxic materials.

In addition to these main concerns, you should also be aware of

--The steadiness of the rebounder while you're using it.

--The amount of sound it makes while you're using it.

--The quality of the mat suspension, in other words, the quality of the springs or bungee cords that hold up the mat you bounce on and the quality of their connection to the base.

--How easy it is to repair if the suspension (the springs or bungee cords) have a problem.

Here's how four of the top rebounders compare on these criteria:

1. Bellicon Qibounder: This has a soft, even bounce. It's even and steady, and you feel stable when you're using it. It is totally silent. The suspension is bungee cords that are easily replaced when they wear out, which takes about a year and a half. This is built into the design so the bounce is kept just right over the life of the trampoline. Construction is high quality. The only downside of this rebounder is the price. This is the top of the rebounders, but you pay for being at the top.

2. Needak Soft-Bounce: This is the second softest bounce of these four rebounders. It's not as soft as the Qibounder, but it's soft enough not to be overly jarring, and it's relatively even. The springs, however, are quite noisy, and the construction could be better. The spring cover tears easily, and the base could be sturdier because the folding legs give a slight horizontal movement when you're using it. This exerciser is much less expensive, but you get what you pay for.

3. ReboundAir: This has a pretty tight, short bounce. It's noisy like the Needak, and its springs tend to break easier than the Needak. It has eve more horizontal movement when you're using it. It's a little less expensive than the Needak but not worth the savings.

4. Urban Rebounder: This has the tightest, shortest bounce of all. This isn't a good exerciser for anyone over 30 because it will stress the joints. It's also not well made nor is it sturdy. It has most horizontal movement of all, and the springs break easily and often and are hard to replace. It's the least expensive, but when you consider that it won't last long, it's false savings.

When you compare the top rebound exercise trampolines, the winner, even though it's by far the highest priced, is the soft bounce bungee-cord type, the Qibounder. If you're ready for the benefits of rebounding, invest your money well.

Rebound Exercise is the therapeutic movement on the mini-trampoline. Because it moves all parts of the body at once we can also call it a cellular exercise. As an exercise it is superior to any other because it not only uses gravity but also two other forces, acceleration and deceleration. As a therapy it is as beneficial as massage or reflexology, since the whole body is involved, it is truly a cellular exercise. Rebound Exercise fulfills all four requirements of effective exercise: Strength Aerobic capability Flexibility Endurance. The greatest benefits of more vigorous exercise is the increase of oxygen. Increased oxygen helps us burn more calories, destroys toxins, gets rid of bacteria and fungus and stimulates cardiovascular health
